Jordan One Take 5 Go Milita...

As the roster of signed Jordan athletes grows, the release calendar grows and gets more color, especially with the brand’s willingness to let their stars experiment with their signature lines. Following in the footsteps of LeBron’s “Zoom Solider” line, Russell Westbrook’s Jordan One Take 5 provides a more simplistic and less expensive counterpart to his trademark “Why.Not”. As the 5th edition begins rolling out its first handful of colorways, a pair in “White/Royal” is joining the fray

Though the fine tuning and detailing of the Why Not 6 may not be present on this sister shoe, they still hold onto the disruptive design principles that mark their higher-end counterparts. Contrast eyestays are one of the best examples of that, swapping between translucent plastic on the exterior and matte suede on the interior. Keeping constant with its first few releases, the upper is more or less dressed in similar tones, keeping things in an adjacent palette of white, off-white and grey.

Blue provides some hits of accenting on the sawtooth stitching, Westbrook family branding on the heel and a few of the eyelets, while mainly staying to small pieces of accenting towards the sole. It’s that layout specifically that makes the Jordan 4 “Military Blue” an obvious comparison here. Speaking generally, this isn’t an unprecedented strategy for JB, who often take opportunities in the early stages of new models to harken back to MJ footwear of old.
